Cute Butt.

Do me a favor. Just keep telling me that.

Yesterday I did measurements with Jenn, the first time since I started working out with her in August 18. Less than 3 months later, I’ve lost over 3.6% body fat, and 15″ total from my frame! Take a look!

I’m enormously encouraged between these measurements and the “jeans test” (I’m down a size!) I don’t own a scale so the real proof is in how I feel – which is amazing.

I’m now in the fitness zone for bodyfat, and I’m headed to athlete for Ashland! (By the way, this is the last day to get into Jenn’s For the Glow community as a lifetime member – just like yours truly).

If you’re thinking of New Year’s goals, my advice for you is to start now – start today. You’re worth it, and you can do it! Cute butt, here we come. 🙂

Green Smoothie Smug Booty

I just finished a green smoothie (recipe below) so tasty, that I wished I had a spatula at work to finish every drop.

Am I a convert? Sure, but it’s not what you think. It’s not like this green smoothie tastes like it looks – which according to my colleague who saw me savoring every green gooey sip is “festering dog snot.”

Green smoothie! Spinach, romaine, 1/2 avocado, frozen mango, 1 nectarine, coconut oil, unsweetened almond milk, Vitamineral Green, bee pollen.

Let Me See Ya Do the Jane Fonda! Episode 3 with For the Glow

Welcome to Episode 3 in a series about my 21 Day Workout with For the Glow! This is a little sidebar from my usual musings on acting and filmmaking, to bring an honest account of my experiences in one of the actor’s biggest responsibility – physical fitness. I hope to inspire you or at least, make you laugh! Catch up on Episode 1 and Episode 2.

August 24  – August 27 (Days 7 – 10)

Friday morning I got a tweet from poor Jenn, whose detox blues found her breaking out in hives and battling a fever. Either of those by itself makes me feel like a giant baby. Saturday and Sunday we planned to have off while I was at an intensive acting workshop. Sunday night, I was just leaving class close to 11pm and exhausted. We bailed on Monday. That’s life.

Four days without a workout is pretty scary when you’re on a 21-day block, but I chugged healthy fluids (kombucha, water, fresh pressed juices) and did my best to eat well. Sometimes life demands extra attention – these workshops are notorious for being intense, but they only happen every three months. It’s a trade I’m willing to make – my goal just becomes, how do I fuel myself better?

August 29 (Day 12)

We take a few measurements today. I’m terrified. Four days off was a necessary hurdle but I’m scared – what if the workouts that came before aren’t enough? The dreaded numbers come in: My waist is the same, but I’ve lost an inch from my hips. A whole inch! That may not sound like a lot to you, but in the skinny jeans world it’s the difference between sizes! In 12 days and 8 workouts, I’m down an inch! I’m shrinking! Yay!

i put this here because it’s cute and has nothing to do with my real measurements

August 19 (Day 2)

I think this says it all, don’t you?

RIP Wonder Russell

I literally could not move after our Sunday session.

Booty poppin’ and Bat squeals: Episode 1 with For The Glow

Welcome to Episode 1 in a series about my 21 Day Workout! This is a little sidebar from my usual musings on acting and filmmaking, to bring an honest account of my experiences in one of the actor’s biggest responsibility – physical fitness. I hope to inspire you or at least, make you laugh!

August 15 (warm up day 1)

I can’t sleep for anxiety, and I bounce out of bed with weird cheerfulness. Falcor is totally unimpressed and doesn’t even raise his head from where he’s snuggled. Jerk.

It’s my first warm-up before a series of 21 workouts with Jenn at For the Glow and yes, I’m nervous. It’s been a rough year, and working out has been on the back burner. Heck, it’s been behind the whole stove, hidden out of sight with dust bunnies and dead moths.

It’s me-time now, and time to unearth a better Summer body. Better late than never, right?

Letting Go

I started a detox this morning developed by my partner in fitness crime, Jenn at For the Glow. Of course in the back of my mind was the cranky thought “Well, if I’m giving up alcohol and caffeine for five days, I better damn well lose about 35 pounds!”

Jenn must have felt those vibes across the city, because she posted this incredible new perspective on her site:
